Story
In 2017 in excess of 3,100 Australians are estimated to be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Only 8% of Pancreatic Cancer patients survive more than five years and the median survival rate is between three and six months.
My mum Lindy is currently fighting pancreatic cancer after being diagnosed 8 months ago. So far she is beating the odds, and with your help the Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation can help find ways for more people to do this in the future.
The Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is the only Foundation in Australia dedicated exclusively to Pancreatic Cancer. Amongst other things, it provides money to researchers looking for ways to treat pancreatic cancer so that survival rates which have not improved much in the last 40 years might change. Lindy's current treatment has been available for less than 5 years, and is the result of research such as this. The Vision of the Foundation is - "To break through 40 years of no progress by doubling the number of people who survive Pancreatic Cancer by 2020"
We are so grateful for the many people who have supported our family over the last eight months. The Sydney Put your foot down walk is another opportunity to support Lindy, as well as many others with pancreatic cancer now and in the future. I am aiming to raise money to assist the Avner Foundation in achieving this vision and I welcome any contribution, great or small, that you can make!
